Job Description
What makes a great Porter Novelli person?
For 50 years, we've been helping our clients create positive change. Our Purpose as a business is that we shape your story and make it count, for both our clients and our people.
Our best people bring an interesting life story and their best selves to the work we do for our clients – with teamwork, energy and readiness to learn something every day.
They always seek the most appropriate response, not necessarily the easiest.
We also recognise that every person has their own life and commitments outside of work, which is why we believe that flexible work is for everyone. Our guiding principles enable each person the freedom to choose what works best for them, their colleagues and their clients.
We value diversity, equality and inclusion and embed these values into our culture every day.
Who are we searching for?
An ambitious communications consultant who is ready to step up into a senior role with greater client, people, and business growth responsibilities. The role requires a strategically minded professional who enjoys the craft of our discipline, hunting for and driving client opportunities and coaching and developing team members.
As a senior member of the team, you will work alongside our directors to oversee communications programs across a diverse range of industries and sectors, provide strategic, day-to-day advice to clients and the team, and be responsible with your colleagues for the success of our work. You will also work as part of a national leadership team to identify, qualify and win new business, and train and develop the skills of team members.
Approach and attitude
- A curious and creative mind
- A positive ‘can-do' attitude to the work and management responsibilities
- A ‘hands-on' approach to leadership and building successful teams
- An eye for detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to deliver – and demand – the highest standards in all aspects of your work
- Perseverance as a problem solver
- Commitment to do what we say we will do
Leadership
- Actively contribute to and participate in initiatives that underpin our ambition and direction as a firm
- Support the agency's directors and leadership to develop, train and mentor the team
- Contribute to and drive a positive, high-performing team environment with a strong culture
- Contribute to the progression and career pathways of team members, with the support of line managers across Sydney and Melbourne
- Uphold our values, standards, guidelines and commitments as a national team
Growth
- Manage and grow a profitable client portfolio, achieving optimal productivity
- Identify revenue opportunities that deliver new and organic client growth
- Ensure we always operate profitably as a firm
- Think on your feet to provide clients and teams with solutions to problems
- Persuade, inspire and build trust with colleagues, clients and our agency partners
- Collaborate with sister Clemenger Group agencies to create new client opportunities
About Porter Novelli
At Porter Novelli, we work with corporations, governments and not-for-profits to build attention, influence behaviour, enhance reputation and mitigate risk.
We shape stories with evidence and we commit to strategy first. We listen and ask questions before we offer counsel. We make our work count in a way that can be measured by its positive impact on an organisation.
We do this by delivering creative and meaningful marketing and communications campaigns, and reputation management and stakeholder advocacy programs that build trust and shift opinions.
Our team of curious people are experts in shaping stories to deliver social benefit, now and for the long term. We also actively shape each of their stories, with strong professional development, career pathways and an inclusive culture.
We are proud to be certified as a Great Place To Work® in Australia and ranked #5 in the 2022 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work List, and we hold multiple years' accreditation as our industry's only Employer of Choice. We are committed to fostering an environment that is fun, rewarding, equal and stimulating. Our people define our culture.
Together, we commit. We do what we say we will do. And that counts.
